Limestone Screenings
Cost-Effective Materials for Construction and Road Building
Start Your Roadways with a Sturdy Base
When contractors need a sturdy base for parking lots and driveways, they turn to limestone screenings. Screenings are a cost-effective base aggregate. They are easy to shovel, rake, and grade, and while their composition is made up of rocks and dust, they hold moisture rather than drain it like gravel. This tendency to retain moisture means contractors should be careful with how they use screenings in projects. Areas that experience frequent freezes and thaws want to avoid using screening as a base.
Our crushed and screened limestone fines and aggregates are available in a variety of sizes from three-quarter-inch to four-inch bases. We also provide clean rock ranging from one inch to four inches. We can customize an order for specialty sizes, and as always, our limestone products undergo a rigorous quality assurance process before they leave the quarry.

Screenings are the material left over when we separate limestone rocks or ships. Gravel is rock that’s roughly uniform in shape and size, but screenings can range from dust to irregularly shaped rocks. While gravel and screenings can be used as a paver base, most contractors opt for gravel.
Screenings can be used as an inexpensive base for a gravel driveway or parking lot as they form a concrete-like base when compacted and can be applied directly over existing soil or clay to create a strong base. Then crushed limestone or pea gravel is placed on top to create a durable surface to drive and park on.
At Pontotoc, safety is vital. Our crushed limestone quarrying procedures are controlled by industry best practices and mine safety regulations that protect our employees and the surrounding area.
