Limestone is an important material for most commercial construction projects, including a base layer for roads and foundations.
Another important ingredient for roads and construction, limestone chips and screenings are used to neutralize or dilute chemical wastes.
Screenings are sized from 1/4″ down to fines and are useful for a variety of applications, walkways, base for interlocking stones, patios, topping for base driveways.
Rip Rap comes in 12″, 18″ and 24″ sizes and are used for retaining walls, landscaping features, and erosion control for shorelines.
Limestone is a versatile, naturally formed rock that is used by a wide range of industries to complete various projects. Limestone is durable and practical, and when broken down into different sizes, it offers a host of benefits, including:
Limestone is an industry standard and, due to its abundance and durability, is used in hundreds of functional or decorative purposes:
Concrete
Construction grade concrete is a mixture of cement, water, sand, and crushed aggregate. Limestone is a durable material that can be used as aggregate to create a more visually appealing concrete.
Road Base
Roadways need a strong base before paving, so they can withstand years of heavy traffic. As a result, they need to be filled with a durable aggregate material. Limestone is plentiful and reliable.
Pipe Bedding
Crushed lime aggregate is a popular choice for underground pipes since it doesn’t expand and contract, preserving the integrity of the pipeline. Crushed aggregate also insulates the pipeline from soil movement and moisture.
Under Slab Fill
Concrete slabs cannot be laid on the bare ground, and a layer of crushed limestone fills the area beneath the slab, keeping it level and providing drainage.
Driveways
Gravel driveways are resistant to erosion and provide a strong pathway to remote job sites for heavy machinery.
Roofing Material
Ground limestone is frequently used as a coating for asphalt shingles and roofing as it helps to deflect heat and protect roofing from wind and rain.
Rip Rap
Shore erosion is a common issue for rivers and lakes, and large limestone boulders are a cheap, plentiful material that can protect shorelines and even provide habitats for wildlife.
Agriculture
Pulverized lime is a key ingredient to adjusting pH levels in soil, which makes large quantities valuable for landscapers looking to rehabilitate lawns or farmers that want to improve conditions for crops.
